Acrylic painting
About
Kirsten Wolff

Born in Flensburg in northern Germany, I studied in Kiel and Zurich before eventually settling in Munich. Following the end of my professional career in 2020, I found great fulfilment in dedicating myself entirely to painting.
My engagement with acrylic painting began in 2017, and from the very outset I was fascinated by the medium. What began as a discovery has since grown into a true passion. The works presented in this gallery are my original acrylic paintings, each one reflecting a stage of this ongoing artistic journey.
My work is inspired by the beauty of nature and its rich variety of colours and forms. I am particularly drawn to organic shapes - whether encountered on a vast scale, such as in aerial views of landscapes, or on a smaller scale, found in the textures of tree bark or the reflections on a water surface.
I work primarily with acrylic paints on canvas, stone paper and wood, valuing the medium for its versatility and the wide range of techniques it affords.I enjoy moving between realistic painting based on photographs, freer interpretations of representational subjects, and purely abstract works, whose compositions often develop only during the painting process through the use of various chance techniques. Throughout, harmonious colour combinations are essential to me, and I am drawn to paintings that convey a sense of calm and balance.
My representational works focus chiefly on landscapes - mountains, rock formations and tranquil retreats, returning again and again to the theme of water: seascapes and underwater worlds, aerial views of coastlines, reflections, waves, beaches and surf.
Exhibitions
