Acrylic painting
About
Kirsten Wolff
Born in Flensburg, Northern Germany, I studied in Kiel and Zurich before making Munich my home. Post the end of my professional career in 2020, I've embraced the joy of dedicating myself entirely to the art of painting.
My journey with acrylics began in 2017, instantly captivated by its diverse techniques. Now, painting is not just a hobby, but my passion. The gallery showcases my original acrylic creations, each piece a testament to this journey.
My artwork predominantly explores realistic and abstract landscapes – from seascapes and underwater vistas to mountains, rocks, and tranquil retreats. I find inspiration in landscape photographs, maps, and aerial views which I often digitally alter towards abstraction before using them as references for my paintings. The organic shapes, reminiscent of patterns formed by flowing water, are a recurring motif in my work, visible in both grand landscapes and minute details like the texture of tree bark.
In abstract works, I find joy in incorporating materials like sand and handmade paper, adding a tactile dimension to the visual experience. My discovery of stone paper in 2021 opened new avenues, particularly in pouring techniques.
While acrylics remain my medium of choice, I revel in the diversity of techniques it offers. Some pieces are faithful renditions of reference photos, while others are born from the spontaneity of pouring techniques, always with a keen eye on harmonious colour palettes.
